Click Start London is a fully funded, 4-week in-person digital skills programme, based in London, delivered by Be the Business and the University of East London in partnership with the Institute of Coding (IoC), funded by Nominet.
Click Start London teaches digital skills and supports entry into digital roles, jobs or apprenticeships to 18–30-year-olds living in London who are not in education, employment or training. We welcome school leavers, university graduates, and career changers – no previous IT qualifications are required to enrol.

Essential digital skills are all about improving confidence in using technology for work, learning and daily life. Many jobs today need digital skills, and employees need them for jobs that do not specifically ask for high levels of qualifications or experience. For example, if you work in a warehouse or a shop you may keep digital records of stock. The focus of Click Start London is to support in the understanding and experience of using devices and technology, as well as in creating and editing information digitally.
Click Start London could lead to a range of digital roles, jobs and apprenticeships and more specific titles can be found on the National Careers Service website. Briefly, these can include, depending on experience and qualifications:
Digital Marketing roles; Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Assistant, Vlogger
Website roles; Content Editor, Designer, Developer, Test Lead
Processing roles; Database Administrator, Software Developer, Business Analyst
General IT roles; IT Trainer, IT Support Technician, Network Engineer
Roles you may not have considered; Accountancy roles, E learner developer
Learning new digital skills and working towards gaining industry-recognised digital qualifications, including Google Digital Garage and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), specifically in Excel.
Planning your future career, with tailored careers advice, CV writing, job application support and focused job-hunting support, including how to use LinkedIn effectively.
Solving real-life business technology challenges by networking with Small and Medium Sized Employers (SME) owners and entrepreneurs. With the help of our digital marketing experts, you’ll put into practice your digital skills learning from previous sessions
Learning valuable ‘soft skills’ including teamwork, adapting to a new environment, networking with senior leaders and presenting ideas to clients
Attendance at the networking celebration graduation event, which will include a Dragons Den style ‘Hackathon’, that will be judged by special guests
Throughout the programme special guest appearances will be made, providing an ideal opportunity to meet and network with potential employers and apprenticeship providers. Our previous guests included representatives from IBM, Amazon, BT Group, and Google.
Receive free ongoing job coaching for up to six months after the programme, and meet employers and apprenticeship providers with real jobs to interview for, all to help get you into a job, become self-employed, or secure an apprenticeship
All tutors are dedicated to your career progression and some may be able to become a mentor to you, including the expert Avengers who are highly respected in their respective digital fields.
Since June 2023, we have supported over 230 young Londoners, and many of our graduates have secured digital jobs and apprenticeships with companies such as Amazon, IBM, Accenture, Publicis Groupe, and the NHS, while others have pursued specialised tech training in cybersecurity or DevOps.
The next Click Start London programme is due to take place;
September 2-27, 2024 at the University of East London (E16 2RD).
Funding:
Click Start is fully funded for eligible trainees, including travel expenses, IT equipment (including personal laptop for learning), and a free lunch every day.
