Small and medium businesses form the backbone of our economy. Our research, in conjunction with BT Group reveals a concerning trend, with 40% of small and micro businesses and 67% of medium businesses experiencing breaches or attacks in the past year. To tackle the surging cyber security threat, BT has developed a new cyber security training regime specifically for SMEs and an expert guide.

Technology is changing the world faster than ever. AI is now everywhere, accessible to everyone, for free. For business, that creates significant cyber risks – ones that didn’t exist 12 or 24 months ago.

And it’s not only large companies under threat. Far from it. The most vulnerable businesses are small and medium size firms, particularly those where cybersecurity has always taken a back seat. Where ‘good enough’ means relying on firewalls and antivirus software (because that’s how it’s always been).

Be the Business has been working with BT to improve awareness of these threats and to support small and medium sized businesses to tackle them. This guide is one part of our project to support business leaders overcome some of these challenges.

Because in a world that’s changing this quickly, future-proofing your cybersecurity strategy isn’t just a ‘nice to have’ – it’s what keeps you in business.
